Kiwi's go Scottish

On Tuesday night the Navs organised a Scottish celebration to send me on my way (even although that is not actually going to happen for a few months yet, we had it then because I will not get to see all of the students once they finish their exams and disperse around NZ for the summer).

What a great effort! Some of the lads even dressed up in kilts (or at least tartan blankets!) and painted their faces blue and white ( I think they were secretly loving the idea of being a Scottish warrior), nearly everyone tasted the haggis (which had been sent up especially all the way from Dunedin!), which most folk toasted wi' a wee dram of whiskey after one of the guys recited the first two verses of Rabby Burns's "Tae a haggis" in a near perfect Scottish accent -I was very impressed!

I must admit I found watching the video that Jeremy and Luuk had put together HIGHLY embarrassing, however, it will be a wonderful momentum to take home and remember my time here in NZ with the Navs, so I'm hoping that the public humiliation will pay off in the long run!

Although I did find the whole evening somewhat overwhelming, it was a great night. Lynton presented me with a book of photo's and wee comments from the students, as well as an All Blacks top; it was at this point that I knew I had been truly accepted into the Kiwi fold!

Thanks guys ;0)
