Beyond the great barrier

After much deliberation Nicki, Gregor and I decided not to go to the Great Barrier island on account of the weather, which was not looking too clever. Instead we opted to go on a road trip in pursuit of the sun and to give me an opportunity to see a bit more of the North island. So we packed up the car and drove through the rain, which had stopped by the time we arrived in Lake Taupo. We had really good accomodation and once we dropped off our stuff we decided to head straight for the Taupo hot springs which was just the ticket!

We "borrowed" some glasses from our appartment and wrapped them up in our towels and managed to get a shot of a private hot pool where we sneeked in a bottle of feijoa wine and kicked back in style!

Once we felt suitably relaxed we decided to get ready to go out for dinner and ate out at this fantastic Thia restaurant. I had one of the best Thai meals I've ever eaten. I really enjoyed catching up with Gregz and Nicki, who by this point had both managed to get into holiday mode, helped along somewhat by the hot pools, wine and good food; not to mention the fabulous company! Now this is my idea of a good holiday :0)
