Alive, alive oh!
What a great weekend, my Scottish friends Charity and Alan invited me around to their place in Sumner for a full on three course meal, including live mussels cooked in a ginger, chilli, garlic and white wine sauce, which was absolutley scrumptious! Thanks guys!
After dinner we watched "Gangs of New York", which I thought was quite violent and in my opinion lacked substance; several potentially interesting characters are introduced at the start of the film and you hope that they will be developed as the plot unfolds but in most cases they come to nothing. Although I must admit, before watching this film I would have said that "Cameron Diaz" and "bona fide" just did not belong in the same sentence, however, she did managed to hold her own as a dirty, Irish pick pocket; the other characters were all a bit insipid though...having said all that it's worth watching for the imaginative sets; so long as you don't mind the fact that it is totally unbelievable. The best thing about the film was the fact that Leam Neeson was in it, but unfortunately he dies after the first five minutes!....and that is all I have to say about that.
Stayed over in Sumner with Charity and Alan and played with baby Sasha on Sunday morning who is extremely cute and growing rapidly, when I see Sasha it always makes me wonder how Kasper Lemvig-Alan (Jette and Steve's wee one) is doing in Edinburgh.
Went to church in the evening, which was about spiritual gifts and was very interesting, then hooked up with one of the guys from my Navs group for a bit of a pray about some relationship stuff. It's all happening at the moment, God seems to be doing some cool stuff in people's hearts.
Yesterday I was at the primary school, the kids are great but they always exhaust me, I do not know how all you teacher types out there keep going, after one day of hyper 5-9 year olds I need the rest of the week to recover!
I broke one of my contact lenses last week and I was absolutely gutted; yesterday a woman who I have met twice gave me a cheque for $100 towards a new contact lens...wow, divine intervention sends tingles up my spine! Also had exciting, if a little overwhelming, news about possibly flying back to Scotland for a wedding in March...incredible.
Later! Luv Ayley
