Fate or divine appointment?

This weekend has flown by. I met up with Lynton on Saturday morning to sort out my plane tickets for Sydney and meet for supervision. The flights have now been booked and the Navs have generously offered to pay for the flights as well as the conference itself, which I am extremely grateful for. I will be flying across the Tasman to Oz on Thursday for 5 days and I'm really excited about it; I'm looking forward to catching up with a few friends and learning from people like Paul Stanley and Tom Yeakley who have been involved in ministry for many years.

During supervision Lynton mentioned the possibility of another younger guy called Tim and I taking more of a leading role in the ministry next year, at the moment it's just an idea for us all to think and pray about between now and the end of term; I am definitely open to the idea, although I don't feel I know Tim very well and I wonder what working more closely with him would be like. We also chatted about next year and what kind of visa I should try and get, whether or not I should continue with the course at Bible College or think about getting an OT job instead.

On Saturday night my friend Leah and I went to the cinema to see "The Dancer Upstairs", a film directed by John Malkovich; which I thought was a bit disappointing. It had all the ingredients of an excellent film (I imagine that the book by the same name is a lot more satisfying to read than the film is to watch) however it did not really come together for me; the characters lacked authenticity and it was difficult to be convinced by the plot, it seemed to lack integrity somehow; perhaps John Malkovich is not cut out to be a film director.

What was really great about our trip to the cinema is that we met this lovely couple and ended up going for a drink with them afterwards. They were quite fascinating people who decide what to do with their spare time by rolling a dice and on Saturday night the dice told them to go to the cinema! Vince, the Kiwi guy, explained that he doesn't want his life to get stale so he has this dice thing going on which helps him to do things that he would not normally do and stops his life from becoming too regimented and dull. We had some quite deep chats and swapped numbers so hopefully we will meet up again, Veronica is a very sweet Swedish girl and they have recently got engaged.

I spent Sunday with my flat mates and we went out for a curry on Sunday night as a flat for Marie's birthday, which was delicious!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Later! From Ayley
