Ticking along
Yesterday I spend most of the morning doing domestic and admin stuff since the primary school I usually work at on a Monday is on holiday at the moment. As I was eating my lunch I came across an advert in the local paper for a house keeper (!) in an area near where I live and I thought that might a good way for me to make a wee bit extra money while I wait for my Occupational Therapy registration to come through. I need something where the hours are a bit more flexible and the advert also said there might be opportunities to do a bit of typing relief work in an office from time to time which would suit me fine. Well anyway, I thought it would be worth a try so I wrote to the couple and told them that I would be interested to find out more about the job; I’ll keep you posted!
After dinner I went along to the Christianity Explored course that the Navs are running at the moment and had some really interesting discussions about all sorts of things to do with Christianity from speaking in tongues to the role of Mary in the Catholic Church. I really enjoy discussing faith issues with people who are interested in finding out more, it gives me a real buzz!
My flat mate Hayley read to me last night, which was really quite novel (ahem!), she was reading a chapter out of a book called “Do you think I’m beautiful” by a woman called Angela Thomas, (bad title-good book!) the chapter was about having a desperate and pursuing heart after God and not conforming to the idea of a “church lady” as she calls it, a woman who looks like she has it all together but doesn’t really, instead she challenges us to be open and honest about our struggles: “Real ministry happens in the presence of vulnerability and transparency” I want to have an authentic faith, not something false or pretentious but something that other people can relate to and identify with, that way I can just be myself, which I think is the most important thing, sometimes I think I try too hard to be good and forget that it is by grace I am saved, through faith and this is not from myself but from God (Ephesians2:8-10).
Hope you are all well,
Later! From Ayley!
