10Krun

Standing at the start line it dawned on me that going on a 150 mile cycle trip just before a 10K run is probably not the brightest idea in the world! I felt exhausted before I'd even begun.

I was surprised at how nervous I was, but then I haven't ever done anything like this before. It was a great feeling running along side so many women (approx 14,000) of all shapes, sizes and ages. Every kilometre was marked by a (presumably) scottish bloke playing his bag pipes to egg us on and it worked! After the 5k mark I started to relax and began to actually enjoy it. Respect to all you half and full marathon runners out there; that was enough for me...until next time!

It was raining the day before and it's raining now but the race took place in a window of perfect sunshine with a slight breeze; conclusion? I reckon that was the Lord's way of egging on all his ladies from the side lines! It certainly helped me that's for sure.
