The newly spun Webb's!

The Webb family
I finally made it up to Inverness to start my cycling trip in the Highlands and Islands! I was raring to go when I set off from my flat in Glasgow but after a comedy of errors, including one of my panniers falling off, I managed to miss the direct train to Inverness. As I was booking a place on the next train I caught a glimpse of myself in the glass reflection; mildly embarrassed I began to protest to the man serving me; "Why didn't you tell me that I had my helmet on back to front?!"...with a rye smile he simply explained that pointing that out would have ruined their entertainment for the evening and proceeded to tell me that he and his colleagues had been chuckling away to themselves ever since I'd arrived in the ticket office...cheeky bandits! Well at least he was honest!

It was great to see Charity and Alan's new pad-I was more than happy to be embroiled in their "Webb" - they treat their guests very well before they wrap them up in silk and eat them for breakfast! ;) I received some A1 tips from Al about what to ditch and what to take on a cycling trip...it was out with the heavy towel, sleeping bag and torch and in with the silk sheet sleeping bag, micro towel, mini head torch, porridge oats and hip flask of malt whiskey; apparently all essential fare for any scottish cycling trip, ah there's a man after my own heart!

You should have told the ticket man you ride your bike sitting on the handlebars - try it ! it is possible but tricky!!
