Sport

I've been car-less over the last few days since lending "Ruby Tuesday" to Dad to buzz around Christchurch in whilst he's visiting. The other day I was running a wee bit late for an appointment with the head Occupational Therapist of Christchurch hospital and so one of my "new" flat mates (Haydn) kindly let me borrow his car to go into town...I managed to get to my meeting on time and everything was going to plan, until I got back to the car and realised that I'd left the lights on and the battery was completely flat!

Looking around for some help I saw a couple of elderly men and so I went up to them and explained my predicament; they seemed quite sympathetic but unfortunately were not in a position to help; one of them pointed me in the direction of a large white tent and said that if I went over there I might find someone who could help me.

So off I went to the big white tent, wondering who I might find...as I walked into the tent, what looked like the entire Canterbury Cricket team, turned around to look at me and fell silent (probably wondering what this bewildered looking blonde wanted!) so in my best Scottish accent I asked if anyone could help me start my car...

..one of the guys said he had jump leads (a fellow cricketer was quick to say "yeh, we THOUGHT you would have some!") and so with a wee smirk on his face he came over to help me; I wanted to get out of the big white tent as quickly as possible and was quite relieved when we left.

Back at the car the Cricketer sighed and said, "I'm going to have to go and get the rest of the lads to help me move this car so that I can get in to jump start your engine". I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing and replied "please tell me that this isn't going to involve the ENTIRE cricket team!" but the Cricketer just laughed and went back into the big white tent to get some more of his red and black clad team mates; I ask you, why do these things always happen to me?!
