A time for everything
On the way home a young deer leapt out in front of Dave's car as we sped up the M80 towards Stirling. We watched as it crossed our three lanes, then leapt over the fence to it's death on the other side of the motorway.
It was quite traumatic watching this graceful animal getting hit by an oncoming vehicle, travelling at speeds that were beyond the poor creature's comprehension.
It was also quite sobering to realise that it could have come through our windscreen if we had been there 3 or 4 seconds earlier.
We were fortunate with our timing; sadly, the young deer was not.
"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to
die,
a time to plant and a time to
uproot.
a time to kill and a time to
heal,
a time to tear down and a time to
build,
a time to weep and a time to
laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to
dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to
gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to
refrain,
a time to search and a time to
give up,
a time to keep and a time to
throw away,
a time to tear down and a time to
mend,
a time to be silent and a time to
speak,
a time to love and a time to
hate,
a time for war and a time for
peace.
...He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men" Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
I'm experiencing a lot of these different seasons and times in my life at the moment. Sometimes it's exciting and new, at other times it's disappointing and sad, however I find it reassuring to know that there is time for everything under heaven, both the painful and the delightful in life. I also love the notion of a timeless eternity set in my heart and often wonder about what that will actually look like.
