Miro

Bought a 1920´s style sun hat today; weather is just fantastic.

Had breakfast next to a dutchman who bought me an expresso, which was a bit of a treat. He was a nice chap; had that rare "wholesome" quality about him. He was telling me how he´d cancelled a ski-ing holiday to be around for his ailing 89 year old grandmother; I think that´s kind of unusual, isn´t it?...wish more dutch men would cancel holidays for granny, the world would be a better place!

Went to visit the Joan Miro Foundation this afternoon to learn a bit more about his work. I didn´t realise he´d experimented with so many different mediums. To be honest, I´ve never really been into Miro´s paintings, although there are a couple I can appreciate in his constellation series, where he uses various symbols to denote the heavens. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by his tapestries; they are amazing! So tactile, ourageously large and typically colourful.

Enjoyed wandering down La Rambles in the sun and chilling out down by the pier, yes Barcelona is a great city for getting away from it all.

I'm going to go on holiday for my Grandad. :) I'm also Dutch, so there must be a trend... Something to do with holidays and grandparents.
