Kiwiwedding

Last weekend I watched my old flat mate and close friend, Hannah, get married to her fiance Mark; it was a beautiful wedding and I liked the way that they personalised the service with a slide show and music chosen by the couple. The ceremony was led by a couple called Glen and Anne-Marie who are both involved in the Navs over here; it was interesting to get both male and female perspectives on marriage. Glen and Anne-Maire did a really good job putting together a talk for the service, which was both meaningful to the couple and symbolic for the rest of us.

The reception was in a winery, so needless to say there was quality wine and the food was also scrumptious! I felt really privileged to be a part of it all; I will have been to three weddings and a funeral by the time I leave New Zealand next year; one of the things I've really appreciated about staying in the same place for two of years is that I've had the opportunity to get to know people properly and for me, being involved in people's struggles and celebrations is what makes life meaningful.
