BBQ's and deep chats
The students are all in the middle of their exams at the moment and so we have finished meeting in small groups and are meeting together for BBQ's instead; this has been a good laugh and usually involves some kind of sport, be it soccer, touch rugby or volley ball.
This Tuesday I caught up with a girl called Helen (the English version of Eilidh!) who I met at the Christianity Explored course a few weeks ago, we got on so well that it was 12:30 am by the time we had finished chatting. Helen has done some fascinating things in her 26 years of life, including looking after and teaching extremely wealthy people's children (people who can afford over 10 sports cars plus their own plane/helicopter!) in fact, one of the kids she looked after often went to play with Madonna's kid! Helen has some interesting stories and was quite philosophical about life having seen for herself that being financially successful does not necessarily guarantee a fulfilling life.
I hope to spend some more time with Helen over the summer, she is really open to spiritual things and we have had some good conversations.
