A grey day for a white wedding!
The only frame of reference I have for Kansas was instilled in me at a very early age, whilst watching poor Dorothy and her wee dog "Toto" (along with various other pieces of quirky furniture!) being whisked off to Oz in a huge tornado!
My recent trip to this part of the world has only helped to reinforce these beliefs! The only real difference being, that I now realise that mid-west American storms don't actually occur in black and white!
The weather has been intense since I arrived in Kansas with today being no exception. I awoke to thunder and lightening and torrential rain...not exactly ideal wedding weather conditions. Miraculously, however, it did not seem to interfere with the day. It cleared up for the photographs and the rain seemed to relent whenever the guests needed to go outside.
Liz and John have a very passionate relationship and in some ways the weather was actually quite fitting. Thankfully, Liz couldn't have cared less...as far as I could make out, she was marrying John and evidently that was all that mattered!
The wedding was very intimate. The couple got married in this authentic wee church, surrounded by their immediate family. Both sets of parents were involved in the “giving away” of the bride and groom, which (although quite unusual) seemed appropriate for Liz and John. The actual ceremony was very simple and beautiful and reflected Liz and John's values and relationship.
I loved Liz's "natural look"; she made looking stunning seem so effortless!
